GLib/Gtk/Atk/Pango/Cairo update

Description

Sheesh, will they ever be in sync from what the gtk.org site says are current versions and what the GNOME platform (in this case 2.14.0) version is?

Of course, they are different, which means it is confusing and difficult for folks to get a handle on what version of what package is current.

At a minimum, GLib is out of sync. In order to get GNOME to the recommended platform levels, the book will have to reflect versions that gtk.org don't list. Bummer. :-(

There are updates required for GNOME-2.14.0.

Earlier updates of GTK2 used to break some functionality in non-Gnome GTK2 apps (e.g., non-working sliders in Xscreensaver configuration dialogs, text leaking outside taskbar buttons in Xfce, etc.). If you build non-Gnome apps against Gtk+-2.8.16, please add a note to this ticket about the functionality you have tested.

The ticket itself should stay closed, and if the above procedure finds any breakage, a new ticket for each issue should be created.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
