Just curious, what benefit would this package give to BLFS users?

From the url above:

"UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD."

You can create a bootable drive for any of the distros listed above by simply using "dd" or "cat" on the usb drive. I think this package is mostly meant for Windows, OSX users and Linux newbies who are not that familiar with the console. The "being familiar with the console" is a prerequsite for LFS, so I think the package doesn't have a real use here.

Do you have something else in mind with this package than the things I mentioned above?

Syslinux is nice though, I am using it as a replacement for grub for some time now.

You can do most stuff on Linux using only command-line tools. Yet we have GUI front ends and helper programs (not to mention a pile of crap called desktop environments) in the book.

I wish to add UNetbootin because I use it and it's the popular front end for making bootable USB drives.

Yet (with) the desktop environments (you can) do more than one task, and most of them have no (cannot be done on the) command line(.) alternatives. This package gives a gui for something that can be replaced with one simple command. Not that I have anything against it, but still imho this package is useless for Linux in general.

LOL. Thanks for your opinion. :-)

Please don't take this personally though. I was never against adding a package. I was just curious if there was another reason to have this package except the one mentioned above.

No problem, this is why this ticket was created after all. I'm fine with whatever final decision is made.
