The LFS book and/or website needs a more prominent explanation that the LFS book does not work on 64-bit systems without some amount of customization. There is something about this on the "Download" page of the LFS site, but that is nowhere near enough. I believe there should be something right on the main LFS page, or at least in the FAQs, explaining that LFS only works on 32-bit systems, and that anyone who wants something else can either try testing and developing a 64-bit LFS book or use Cross-LFS.
There also need to be additional notes on the "Read Online" page, possibly just copying what's already there on the "Download" page ("Note: This version of the book requires an existing 32-bit version of Linux...") and the Livecd download page. The 64-bit livecd does already say that it has an "unofficial" 64-bit book, but it must also be noted that this book hasn't been updated for some time and is known to be incomplete (no boot loader, for one thing).
