    puts <application>ScrollKeeper</application> files in
    <filename class="directory">/var/lib/scrollkeeper</filename> instead of
    <filename class="directory">$GNOME_PREFIX/var/scrollkeeper</filename>.</para>

    <para><parameter>--sysconfdir=/etc/gnome</parameter>: This switch
    puts configuration files in <filename class="directory">/etc/gnome</filename>
    instead of <filename class="directory">$GNOME_PREFIX/etc</filename>.</para>

    <para><option>--with-pam-prefix=/etc/pam.d</option>: This switch
    puts <application>PAM</application> files in
    <filename class="directory">/etc/pam.d</filename> instead of

    <para><option>--disable-hal</option>: Use this switch if you have
    <application>HAL</application> version >0.4.7 installed, as the build will
    fail with higher versions due to the
    <application>D-BUS</application>/<application>HAL</application> ABI
    changes.</para>
