#4022 fixed A circular dependency GTK+-2 => Pixman blfs-book@… Arthur Radley
Description

The Pixman-0.30.2 optional dependencies listed in the current BLFS SVN:

GTK+-2.24.20 and libpng-1.6.3

However...

GTK+-2.24.20 requires Pango-1.34.1 which requires Cairo-1.12.14 which requires Pixman-0.30.2

I haven't tried anything for it yet, but I guess the usual routine of installing this group once without GTK+-2 and then again with it would work. Anyway, a note for this in the book might be useful.

#2174 fixed ACL/Attr Wayne Blaszczyk Luca
Description

Kdelibs-<version>, Samba and other packages support ACL/Attr for file permission Access Control Lists.

ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/cmd_tars/acl_2.2.39-1.tar.gz ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/cmd_tars/attr_2.4.32-1.tar.gz

ACL needs Attr to be installed first.

Attr building instructions:

make configure
make
make install install-lib install-dev

Lib64 enabled by default, I disabled it with:

sed -i 's@--enable-lib64=yes@--enable-lib64=no@' Makefile

To turn off debugging asserts and turn on optimizer it is possible to set the following variables before running make configure: OPTIMIZER=-O DEBUG=-DNDEBUG

By default ACL and Attr creates symlinks from /usr/lib/libacl{a,la} and /usr/lib/libattr{a,la} to /lib and install lib{acl,attr}.{so,so.1,so.1.1.0} in /lib and symlinks lib{acl, attr}.so from /lib to /usr/lib.

#109 fixed AFPL Ghostscript-8.11 mattrogers@… hp.news@…
Description

When I installed LFS some time ago I didn't know BLFS and did all enhancements myself. Everything went fine - except viewing of PS/PDF in X. For printing cups brought its own ghostscript - no problems there.

So for a new LFS I'd be very lucky to have a description of

  • X installing with font issues (I think it's there now :))
  • ghostscript installing

If someone is interested, here's an output of kghostview when viewing a ps-file:
