When I wrote the KDE details in Items which can override Fontconfig I wrote the same filename twice: "KDE Plasma: The settings can be adjusted in System Settings under Appearance -> Fonts. This will create or modify ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf although ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf, if installed, can override that." Ovviously, a file does not override itself. Looking at my notes and at Arch I think I had intended to mention /etc/fonts/fonts.conf as the system-wide override: That would have been a very bad idea! The correct file would be /etc/fonts/local.conf. However, experimenting with falkon on qt5 and on qt6 I have been unable to override its choices. Current KDE docs only talk about using the applications to change things, no mention of where the underlying preferences are stored. So, it appears that the only reliable way to specify fonts in KDE applications is to change the preferences for each application. I'll pick this up in a little while and then do an erratum. |

With the rise of wayland, and the coming vulkan, "x-window-system" as a dependency is not accurate enough. This ticket is for following progress in replacing this dependency with a more accurate one. Some instruction changes may be needed too to adapt to wayland only builds. |

When we make a custom live distro, we may want it bootable with both BIOS and UEFI. And if we are using a package manager we don't want LFS grub and grub-efi to overwrite each other. It seems we can only install a part of grub-efi (/usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi and /usr/share/grub/*.pf2 - maybe only unicode.pf2?) to accomplish this. Not tested though. Requested by Tim per blfs-dev. |
