I am certain that CONFIG_DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION=y is necessary. If ""#CONFIG_DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION is not set"", the boot process hangs and the login prompt never appears. In fact, I didn't even see an error message when I tested this. Just the ""Loading Linux-5.19.8"" line, then nothing.
