This is due to the lack of existence of KDEDIR variable pointing to the path where KDE is installed.

It's solved adding $KDEDIR=$KDE_PREFIX to /etc/profile or somewhere in /etc/profile.d (maybe /etc/profile.d/X.sh)"	defect	closed	high		BOOK	6.1	high	invalid	kde install boot
