21444	Falkon crashes with QtWebEngine 6.9.0 on some systems	Douglas R. Reno	Douglas R. Reno	"I was using Falkon to get access to Microsoft Teams for viewing my schedule for the University of Illinois for the week (Firefox has issues with it because we're on ESR), and I noticed some peculiar behavior on my old development system.

I have to have Hardware Acceleration enabled for Teams to work correctly. It worked flawlessly on my last version (6.8.2), but for the incoming security advisory that I'll be filing I decided to upgrade it to 6.9.0.

Falkon now crashes with an abort:

This appears to have been fixed by Arch already, but requires a patch. Here's the Arch bug report:

https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/qt6-webengine/-/issues/4

Which points to a KDE one:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497691

which then points to the following commit:

https://invent.kde.org/network/falkon/-/commit/902e8c0279df4c02948dd6709e9a58b0ae3fa3f9

(which needs to be applied to Falkon)

The options that Falkon references in the above commit though are added to Qt with the following commit:

https://codereview.qt-project.org/c/qt/qtwebengine/+/634920

As a result we'll need to patch both Falkon and QtWebEngine to resolve the issue.

Here's the upstream Qt bug: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-133570

The commit was landed in the 6.9 branch *after* 6.9.0 was released."	defect	closed	normal	12.4	BOOK	git	medium	fixed
