in the /etc/my.cnf file causes this message:

""[ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: unknown variable 'innodb_additional_mem_pool_size=2M'""

when running this command from the book:

""mysql_install_db --basedir=/usr --datadir=/srv/mysql --user=mysql""

Commenting out this line in the my.cnf file fixes the problem.
