Introduction to Dillo3

Dillo3 is a graphical web browser. It is very fast and has a small footprint, so is useful on older, slower machines. It uses the FLTK GUI toolkit.

Dillo3 supports

  • tabs
  • downloads
  • FTP
  • cookies
  • HTTP auth
  • basic CSS (fonts, colours and sizes)
  • basic HTTPS
  • a simple workaround for frames

It does not support Java or Javascript.

The current version is dillo-3.0.5.

Installation of Dillo3

Install Dillo3 by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc &&
make 

Then, as root, run:

make install

Config files

/etc/dillo/dillorc

/etc/dillo/domainrc
~/.dillo/dillorc

Configuration Information

The formats of the configuration files in /etc/dillo are described in comments in the files.

/etc/dillo/dillorc and ~/.dillo/dillorc define the appearance and the behaviour of the user interface.

/etc/dillo/keysrc and ~/.dillo/keysrc define the key bindings.

/etc/dillo/domainrc and ~/.dillo/domainrc define the policy for retrieving resources across domains.

~/.dillo/cookiesrc defines the policy for accepting cookies. An example:

DEFAULT DENY
google.com ACCEPT
wikipedia.org ACCEPT

~/.dillo/style.css defines a CSS style to apply to all pages.
