Installation of Glibc Note: zoneinfo files (/usr/share/zoneinfo/*) are not being installed yet due to an unknown problem with the move to chapter 6. Unpack the glibc-linuxthreads in the glibc-2.2.1 directory, not in /usr/src. Don't enter the created directories. Just unpack them and leave it with that. A few default parameters of Glibc need to be changed, such as the directory where the shared libraries are supposed to be installed in and the directory that contains the system configuration files. For this purpose you need to create the /usr/src/glibc-build directory and cd into that directory with:
mkdir /usr/src/glibc-build && cd /usr/src/glibc-build
In that directory you create a new file configparms by running the following: cat > configparms << "EOF" # Begin configparms slibdir=/lib sysconfdir=/etc # End configparms EOF Change to the /usr/src/glibc-build directory and install Glibc by running the following commands:
cd /usr/src/glibc-build && ../glibc-2.2.1/configure \    --prefix=/usr --enable-add-ons \    --libexecdir=/usr/bin && make && make install && make localedata/install-locales
You can get rid of the "I have no name!" in the bash prompt if you want. Do this by exiting chroot and re-entering it. Run the following commands to do that:
logout && chroot $LFS /usr/bin/env -i HOME=/root /bin/bash --login
