2 * 55-lfs.rules: Remove several rules that are either provided by upstream,
3 or that don't have any effect (there is no /dev/js or /dev/djs according
4 to devices.txt).
5 * 55-lfs.rules, 61-cdrom.rules: Replace ACTION=="add" with "add|change"
6 everywhere, per upstream's general request.
7
82008-11-11 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
9 * 55-lfs.rules, 61-cdrom.rules: Fix comments to use the right rule
10 numbers. Thanks to Trent Shea for the fix. Closes #2278.
11
122008-10-15 DJ Lucas <dj@linuxfromscratch.org>
13 * 55-lfs.rules: Override default perms on floppy disk devices provided
14 by 50-udev-default.rules. Thanks to Bruce Dubbs for the fix. Closes
15 LFS ticket #2076.
16
172008-05-21 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
18 * 81-firmware.rules, doc/81-firmware.txt: Remove. This rule is
19 already handled by udev's 50-udev-default.rules file. The docs
20 can be added back later if needed.
21 * Makefile: Don't install the above deleted files.
22 * 55-lfs.rules: Remove the device-mapper rule, since the upstream
23 50-udev-default.rules file handles it properly.
24
252008-04-02 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
26 * Makefile: Make the package DESTDIR-friendly by installing the docs
27 into a fixed $(PREFIX)/share/doc/udev-config directory, instead of
28 trying to figure out what version of udev was just installed.
29
302007-10-30 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
31 * 55-lfs.rules: Since the dialout group was renamed to uucp, delete
32 the rules that override upstream's assignment of the dialout group.
33 Replace "dialout" with "uucp" on the remaining rules.
34
352007-10-29 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
36 * 51-lfs.rules: Move to 55-lfs.rules.
37 * doc/51-lfs.rules: Move to doc/55-lfs.rules.
38
392007-10-27 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
40 * 25-lfs.rules: Some rules in here are duplicates of rules from udev's
41 new 50-udev-defaults.rules file; remove them. Override permissions
42 where needed elsewhere (and document overrides in comments).
43 * 26-modprobe.rules: Provided by udev's 80-drivers.rules and built-in
44 modaliases for SCSI device-type modules in 2.6.22+ kernels; remove.
45
46 * 25-lfs.rules: Move to 51-lfs.rules.
47 * 27-firmware.rules: Move to 81-firmware.rules.
48 * 81-cdrom.rules: Move to 61-cdrom.rules.
49
50 * doc/25-lfs.txt: Rename to 51-lfs.txt.
51 * doc/26-modprobe.txt: Rename to 80-drivers.txt, and modify to reflect
52 the upstream rules.
53 * doc/27-firmware.txt: Rename to 81-firmware.txt.
54 * doc/81-cdrom.txt: Rename to 61-cdrom.txt.
55
56 * Makefile: Use new filenames.
57
582007-07-31 Dan Nicholson <dnicholson@linuxfromscratch.org>
59 * 25-lfs.rules: Changed the usb_device rule tto create /dev/bus/usb
60 nodes if the usb_device in 2.6.22+ kernels. The rule was also changed
61 to only trigger on "add" events. This change is not backwards
62 compatible with older kernels.
63
642007-06-12 Dan Nicholson <dnicholson@linuxfromscratch.org>
65 * 25-lfs.rules: Fix the CPUID nodes from cpu/%n/cpu to cpu/%n/cpuid,
66 which is what's expected in userspace apps such as x86info.
67
682007-06-08 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
69 * 25-lfs.rules: Add rules for DVB devices (create nodes in /dev/dvb/)
70 and floppies (create extra nodes based on CMOS type), copied from
71 the SuSE rules file. Thanks to Alexander Patrakov for the bugreport.
72
732007-03-04 Matthew Burgess <matthew@linuxfromscratch.org>
74 * Makefile: Use `udevd --version' to work out what version of Udev is
75 installed (requires Udev >= 106)
76
772007-01-02 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
78 * 25-lfs.rules: Change CPU devices (cpu, msr, microcode) to be in
79 /dev/cpu/ and /dev/cpu/N/, to match Documentation/devices.txt.
80
812006-10-21 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
82 * Makefile: Add a missing backslash in install-extra-doc.
83
84 * 05-udev-early.rules, 60-persistent-input.rules,
85 60-persistent-storage.rules, 95-udev-late.rules: Remove. The book
86 will install these files from udev's etc/udev/rules.d directory
87 instead.
88 * Makefile: Don't install these rules files after all. Also, only
89 install corresponding docs if requested.
90
912006-10-20 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
92 * Makefile: Added; contains targets to install rules and doc files.
93 From Dan Nicholson.
94
952006-10-14 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
96 * 05-udev-early.rules, 60-persistent-storage.rules: Sync up with
97 upstream sample rules files (from udev-102), except for one rule
98 which is more specific in our tarball and should probably be changed
99 upstream.
100 * doc/60-persistent-storage.txt: Modify to match the changes. Also
101 fix a couple typos.
102
103 * 25-lfs.rules: Remove duplicate rules (ttyS[0-9]* is also matched by
104 tty[BC...S...][0-9]*, and ttyUSB[0-9]* is in there twice).
105
106 * 25-lfs.rules: Fix Alsa device KERNEL rules. Udev uses shell-style
107 glob matching, not regular expressions, so the old rules would match
108 nonsense device names like hw0asdf and pcmDzxcv. As long as the first
109 character after the "fixed" portion was in the list, the rule would
110 match; it wouldn't apply the same character range to later characters.
111
112 * doc/25-lfs.txt: Add a note on interaction between permissions and
113 symlinks.
114
1152006-10-09 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscrtach.org>
116 * 25-lfs.rules: Fix fb[0-9]* device permissions (should use the default
117 0660).
118
119 * doc/25-lfs.txt: Fix typo: /dev/ptmx is given mode 0666, not 0660.
120 Also tweak the comment about other TTY devices.
121
1222006-10-04 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
123 * 05-udev-early.rules: Remove WAIT_FOR_SYSFS="bus" rule. With kernel
124 2.6.18, this rule is no longer required.
125
126 * doc/05-udev-early.txt: Update to match.
127
1282006-09-28 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
129 * doc/60-persistent-storage.txt: Explain persistent storage rules, or
130 at least the parts I understand. (I don't use DASD or netblock or
131 several other supported configurations.)
132
133 * doc/81-cdrom.txt: Explain 81-cdrom.rules.
134
135 * doc/95-udev-late.txt: Explain 95-udev-late.rules. Documentation is
136 now finished.
137
1382006-09-26 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
139 * doc/60-persistent-input.txt: Explain (in probably too much detail)
140 60-persistent-input.rules.
141
1422006-09-24 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
143 * doc/05-udev-early.txt: Rewrap to fit 80 columns.
144
145 * doc/26-modprobe.txt: Explain 26-modprobe.rules, and modaliases.
146
147 * doc/27-firmware.txt: Explain 27-firmware.rules.
148
1492006-09-24 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
150 * doc/25-lfs.txt: Explain 25-lfs.rules.
151
152 * 25-lfs.rules: Use SYMLINK+= for isdn/capi20 also.
153
1542006-09-23 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
155 * doc: New subdirectory to contain documentation of rules
156 * doc/README: New file, top-level documentation
157 * doc/*.txt: New documentation files, one for each rules file. Only
158 05-udev-early.txt has anything in it.
159
1602006-09-23 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
161 * 25-lfs.rules: Add "ignore_device" to OPTIONS for DRI devices, instead
162 of setting NAME to an empty string. This matches the way we ignore
163 devmapper / LVM devices.
164
1652006-09-22 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
166 * 60-persistent-input.rules, 95-udev-late.rules: Import from udev-100.
167 60-persistent-input.rules creates persistent symlinks for input
168 devices, and 95-udev-late.rules enables udevmonitor.
169
170 * 60-persistent-storage.rules: Replace ATTRS{../removable} with just
171 ATTRS{removable} on partition devices. Replace ATTRS{removable}
172 with ATTR{removable} on whole-disk devices.
173
1742006-09-20 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
175 * 05-early.rules: Missed a rule in the last change. ENV{PHYSDEVBUS}
176 in the rule that waits for the "bus" symlink should be replaced by
177 SUBSYSTEMS.
178
1792006-09-20 Bryan Kadzban <bryan@linuxfromscratch.org>
180 * Adapted rules to the new matches used in udev-098 and above (e.g.,
181 SYSFS becomes ATTRS). Prevents warnings, and support for the old
182 matches will be removed eventually. These rules will not work with
183 udev-097 and before!
184 * Fixed several bugs in the rules left over from previous udev
185 versions (missing commas, overwriting user symlinks using ="..."
186 instead of +="...", and matching against "*" instead of "?*").
187
188 * Renamed CHANGELOG to ChangeLog, started using pseudo-GNU-format
189 entries. (See standards.info; search it for "changelog" to get
190 the general gist.)
191
192dnicholson - Jul 14, 2006
193 * Fixed usbdev PROGRAM so that it works with the BusyBox sh. Thanks
194 to Anthony Wright.
195
196n/a - Jul 12, 2006
197 * Added options so temporary nodes are not created with device-mapper
198 * Adapted cdrom rules to identify CD-ROM drives correctly by adding
199 SUBSYSTEM=="block" test.
200 * Added simple 81-cdrom.rules file to set cdrom group ownership
201
202n/a - Jun 07, 2006
203 * Removed nvidia rules
204 * Removed bug reporting rule
205 * Moved Debian-based persistent CD-ROM rules to contrib
206 * Adapted firmware rule to udev-093
207
208n/a - May 15, 2006
209 * Part one of 25-lfs.rules rewrite
210 * Some minor tweaking of the layout
211
212n/a - May 12, 2006
213 * Initial import of the udev-config directory.
214 * Reorganized and modularized the rules files.
