creates backups of all binaries installed (a quite unusual behaviour,
unique to this package's install). Among them is the hostname.old which
the LFS book mentions. If you reinstall the net-tools package with the
chapter 6 instructions you end up with lots of .old files. I suggest
replacing ""make install"" with ""make update"" which has the same
