with a working machine with no easy way of retrieving anything to install on it.
 I have no floppy drive on that machine, and though the netwrok is configured
and working I have no ftp or http client.

Would it be possible to include, for example, a simple ftp client (or better
wget, though i haven't checked what it might depend on yet...) installation in
the LFS book?  This way I would have a simple way to proceed for completing my
system install.
