Description
The cle.linux.org.tw site seems to have dropped its /fonts/ directory, breaking the "Firefly New Sung font" and "Arphic fonts" links on the xorg-config.html page. The Unicode Font Guide (also listed on that page) now points to AR PL New Sung, which seems to have merged the two.

I'll reply in more detail a little later, but I believe you have not quite quite got the correct view of AR PL New Sung - it _is_ fireflysung-1.3.0. Didn't realise the link was dead, but there is a lot which I think needs to be done in that section, not least noting that the Unicode Font Guide has not been updated since January 2005.

The arphic fonts can generally be found at your local debian mirror, in pool/main/t : ttf-arphic-*.

OK, the further details : I've been analysing the coverage of my fonts since December (I had too many!) and eventually decided to produce an example pdf for each, to show the coverage (most writing systems), or (for CJK) to show the glyphs which are likely to be different in some fonts.
Tedious, and I'm still a long way from completing. But since you have raised this, I've uploaded the WIP to http://homepage.ntlworld.com/zarniwhoop/ttf-font-analysis/. Unfortunately the README.txt files are not showing up in my browser, which is a pain.
The example-pdfs directory contains PDFs for those fonts I've so far analysed. It also contains CJK-examples.pdf which contains the han glyphs liable to differ in between simplified and traditional chinese, japanese and korean.
I'll also note that despite what the book says at the moment, people who cannot read the CJK glyphs and just wish to ensure they render will usually get by with one chinese font - for years I've only installed fireflysung - as well as the japanese and korean fonts.
As an initial change, perhaps just pointing to sourceforge.jp for fireflysung, and to debian for the arphic fonts ?
The arphic fonts listed in /etc/fonts/conf.d (another change the book hasn't caught up with) are AR PL Sungtil GB (gbsn00lp), AR PL Mingti2L Big5 (bsmi00lp), AR PL ShanHeiSun Uni (no idea what this is), AR PL New Sung (fireflysung) and AR PL Zenkai Uni (again, no idea what that is). Big5 is for traditional chinese, GB is simplified.

Bruce, I see you've now got this. In case it makes a difference, I've now identified that AR PL ShanHeiSun Uni is "uming" and AR PL Zenkai Uni is ukai. Listed at http://www.font.su/fonts/index.html.

I just did an update to fix this in commit 11066, but will leave it open for now. Ken, please check out the page and close this ticket if the font info is OK.

I've now got some html in my ntlworld site, so I've pointed to that instead of the directories.
Also changed /etc/fonts/fonts.d to /etc/fonts/conf.d r11067
Your changes seem fine. I'll come back to this subject when I've finished my analysis. Closing.
Patch to merge the Firefly and Arphic font links to point to the new merged font.
