It seems there is the same dependency on exempi and libexif as for nautilus. Please, confirm:

checking for EXEMPI... yes checking libexif/exif-data.h usability... yes checking libexif/exif-data.h presence... yes checking for libexif/exif-data.h... yes

and the switches:

Optional Packages:

--without-libexif disable EXIF support --without-xmp disable special XMP support

Incidentally, I also see:

--without-cms disable colour management support --without-libjpeg disable special JPEG support --without-librsvg disable RSVG support

We have librsvg-2.40.0 at recommended, no reference to libjpeg (did not search if it is included via other dependencies), but lcms, exempi and libexif are under optional.
