Tested building and running some packages, not all.
Funny, SDL was the only stubborn one remaining linking to the old libpulsecommon-5.0.so, so that lsof -c gave gmplayer opening that and libpulsecommon-6.0.so. Took a while to understand that, and the reinstalls started for that.
Finally, Igor's scanelf -BF "%f: %n" applied to gmplayer and to what it found there gave me the answer.
Removed start-pulseaudio-kde: has been merged into start-pulseaudio-x11 and pulseaudio-kde.desktop has been removed. The only thing that those KDE specific files did was to load module-device-manager at session startup, and that is now handled in start-pulseaudio-x11 (it's still done only for KDE sessions).
Fixed at r15504.

OK.
Pulseaudio is a PITA. I had the sound gone and back several times, applications failing, al sort of troubles.
Ken is right about it.
Taking it.
