Wow. I decided to build this including the examples. The build size was 7.2G and the install size is 354M. I haven't figured a build time yet. I thought I had lots of space at 5G but the build stopped and I had to free up space. Actually I had to do that twice.

I'm going to rerun without the examples and let it run overnight to get the timing. Otherwise the build instructions do not appear to need any changes.

I have

SBU_TIME: 40.46 with -j4

Complete build, including uncompress and other jobs (e.g. du several times):

real	120m1.353s
user	559m24.980s
sys	46m11.849s

At -j1 without examples I have: 6.9G Build / 266M Install / 138 SBU / 16301.6 Elapsed Time (seconds) -- that is 4.5 hours.

Is this our largest (build size) package?

I'll update later today.

I have 7.6 GB build, 135 SBU and 270 MB installed. I have a bit more deps around. The only larger package than this one is currently LibreOffice. The increased tarball and build size are consequences of QtWebEngine, a new web engine that aims to replace QtWebKit based on the Chromium's Web Engine (blink, webkit fork) and it was added in this version.

You may use my work as a reference to what changed:

5,6G qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.4.0

$ du -sh /opt/qt-5.4.0/ 282M /opt/qt-5.4.0/

Bruce, did you decide not to use j4 for any particular reason?

comment:7 by bdubbs@…, 9 years ago

This particular development system only has a core2duo. I use -j1 by default and I didn't expect failures from running out of space.
