Apologies, but I did not capture the error.
The following patch fixed the problem. https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/ffmpeg-2.8.1-libvpxenc-remove-some-unused-ctrl-id-mappings.patch?h=packages/ffmpeg
According to Arch, it looks like it is still a problem with 2.8.2.

Fixed with the update to FFmpeg-2.8.2, at r16661.
