It seems that the python deps for the tests need to be built against gobject-introspection : I cannot see that from a quick look at the book's deps, and I'm fairly sure that was not always the case. But trying to configure for hte tests fails with

checking for python extension module directory... ${exec_prefix}/lib/python2.7/site-packages
checking for Python modules for full test coverage... Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named gi.repository.GObject
no
configure: error: cannot import dbus, gi.repository.GObject, dbus.mainloop.glib Python modules

Personally, I think we give too much emphasis to many testsuites (a few really are useful, most are not) and I'm not willing to waste time and space installing that.

dbus-1.10.8 itself is working fine, but somebody else will have to do it.
