Well isn't that special! (You need to have watched Laugh-In from the late 1960s to understand.)
Why can't they just release version 2.12.5. :(

This is a known issue with the latest HexChat version. The HexChat devs have released a new tarball of the same version to fix this - https://dl.hexchat.net/hexchat/hexchat-2.12.4-repack.tar.xz.
