Description ¶
There is a new version of the intel microcode, 20170511. Hopefully it fixes the AMT bug - certainly the microcode on my skylake i3 has gone from 0x9e (from the 20161104 version) to 0xba.
The interesting thing is that the tarball ships the firmware in the correct format, no need to build intel-microcode2ucode (and no point in building it).
I'm not marking this as a security fix, because nobody outside intel (except those with an exploit to try) knows if it really is fixed.

On balance, I do not think this addresses the AMT vulnerability - that seems to be left to motherboard manufacturers to provide updates for windows users. I say that because although my Haswell has newer firmware, that is dated back in January before the vulnerability was known.
