Why do we use 2.28? Do they have 2.odd for dev versions and 2.even for release?
Yes:
http://www.gtk.org/download-linux.html
shows 2.28 as the current stable GLib, and 2.<even> for older releases.

It seems like this one should be the latest stable version.
