Thanks Chris. I rather lazily assumed that the problems with my last build were down to an odd interaction between jhalfs and my host. It turns out that this was probably the cause. My symptoms, in case someone else encounters them before this is fixed, are several e2fsprogs related processes continuing to run throughout the build process and the LFS partition erroneously being reported by the host as being full.
