no, not really. We use the su program from shadow.

I was not speaking of the final su, but of the su used to run the coreutils tests. As shadow is not build in chap5, this chap6 coreutils command will fail:
su nobody -s /bin/bash -c "make RUN_EXPENSIVE_TESTS=yes -k check || true"
until util-linux-2.22 is committed.
