Is there a reason that we're not going with 1.8.1? As far as I'm aware it's a stable version, and it seems to work quite well.

I was using 1.8.1 for a long time, but only using it occasionally. A couple of days ago I discovered it no longer worked - couldn't open any of the output modules. Strace showed it was trying to open /liboutput_alsa.la. Google found a report on Arch, seems to be a bug with libtool-2.2.6b. The bug report http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2901661&group_id=135704&atid=733194 is ignored, I think this was probably fixed for 1.10. 1.12.3 is current and works nicely with LFS-6.6.
