r3cf0fef r4d51529 3 3 <?dbhtml filename="creatingstaticdir.html" dir="chapter05"?> 4 4 5 <para>A s explained in this chapter's introduction, everything we install6 from this chapter will be installed under the <filename7 class="directory">$LFS/static</filename> directory. This way it won't 8 pollute the LFS partition with a bunch of temporary files. All we need to 9 do is create this directory so we can start installing. Simply run this 10 command to create the directory:</para>5 <para>All programs compiled in this chapter will be installed under <filename 6 class="directory">$LFS/static</filename> to keep them separate from the 7 programs compiled in the next chapter. The programs compiled here are only 8 temporary tools and won't be a part of the final LFS system and by keeping them 9 in a separate directory, we can later easily throw them away. Create the 10 required directory by running the following:</para> 11 11 12 12 <para><screen><userinput>mkdir $LFS/static</userinput></screen></para> 13 13 14 <para>You may want to move the packages you downloaded in Chapter 3 to this15 <filename class="directory">$LFS/static</filename> directory, perhaps16 create a subdirectory <filename17 class="directory">$LFS/static/src</filename> to keep them in.</para>18 19 14 </sect1> 20 15
