See the above thread for a patch to fix the locale name mismatches between X and glibc. The thread also has a link to the original bug report that resulted in the patch.
Should this be targetted for 6.1?

LFS SVN already has some text that Xorg doesn't accept some locale names, and suggests some workarounds. Since the patch in the original thread doesn't apply to Xorg 6.9.0 or 7.0.0, and the workarounds work without any loss of functionality, I am marking this as WONTFIX. Feel free to watch Debian/Ubuntu Xorg patches if you disagree.
