OpenEXR is listed as an optional dependency for kdelibs. Does it make sense to list it for kdebase also? Will it do anything for kdebase if it is not installed until after kdelibs?

Not sure. But I do know that kdebase libs link against it and it is looked for during configure. To me, this makes it a dependency.

Noted that JACK and libsamplerate should be listed as optional dependencies for the Kdemultimedia package.
In the spirit of being helpful, here is some notes:
libsamplerate should be referenced as "Secret Rabbit Code" in the descriptive part of the URL. The URL is http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsamplerate/

Reviewing my last message, I noticed I failed to mention that Polypaudio should also be listed as an option dependency to the kdemultimedia package. Sorry for the multiple messages about this.

Updated to kde-3.4.2. Added additional dependencies.
Noted that HAL is now an optional dependency for Kdebase
