While working on this update, I have discovered a problem with Subversion (and File). Subversion and Mercurial are both using File for file type detection, and there is a problem that is making files show up as binary rather than their actual file types. This causes test failures (and potentially functionality issues as well) in both packages. I sent a mail to the list regarding this.
