installation instructions: tar zxf links-0.96.tar.gz && cd links-0.96 && ./configure --prefix=/usr/local && make && make install

wget --directory-prefix=/usr/src ​http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~mikulas/links/download/links-0.96.tar.gz && cd /usr/src && tar -xzvf links-0.96.tar.gz && cd links-0.96 && ./configure ...etc, main point of this note is the wget command. Since we are already on a built lfs system, this package could be placed below openssl and wget in a dependancy tree, and could have the commands that much more friendly. Instead of searching for a downloadable source package, build it in...so to speak.

Additional Notes from Seth W. Klein: The BLFS book is currently using the old links (0.98) without -g mode. When it updates, it should mention that the framebuffer driver won't be built unless gpm is installed since this is a FAQ.
