LFS now has BDB as a core package. The version of BDB in BLFS must kept current with LFS. BDB also has to stay in BLFS as LFS only builds the core libraries, leaving all language bindings and RPC server to be built in BLFS, if desired.

Updated BLFS to Berkeley DB-4.4.16 Added a patch to Python to support the new DB Updated Heimdal to account for the new library file names
Leaving the bug open as all the dependency references for BDB in BLFS must be removed. I'm going to just comment all of them for now, until the LFS installation of DB settles in and is here to stay.

Removed the Berkeley DB dependency from packages that utilize it.
Closing the bug
Python-2.4.2 won't build against this version of BDB unless Python is patched. I've added a patch to the LFS repo that fixes the issue.
