The set of fonts listed above still doesn't cover many ranges of UNICODE. It may be a good idea to add a link to ​http://unifont.org/fontguide/ instead of creating a bad duplicate of that page.

Dan, reassigned to you since you did all the work on it. I believe the font discussions are in much better shape than they ever have been, so it's probably ready to be closed, but I'll leave that for you.

I'm gonna close it. There's still some information that would be useful, like using Fontconfig's font matching system the right way instead of hacking away on fonts.conf. But I think the font discussion is about as good as it's going to be. We can always add more on a per need basis, but it's pretty solid.

For reference, the bulk of the changes went in in r5764, r5765 and r5766.
