Didn't know there were any issues. KDE-3.5.0 works perfectly for me.
Care to elaborate?

As mentioned in the current BLFS book - http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/kde/config.html - KDE 3.5.0 has some kind of problems with the user's environment. I don't know what the exact cause was, but it seems that if you had KDE config files from a previous KDE installation then the KDE app menu (K Menu) would have issues - you can't edit the menu, and I think the program to automatically add more stuff to the menu wouldn't work.

Forgot to mention...3.5.1 also incorporates the kdelibs security patch currently mentioned in BLFS.

I am up on 3.5.1 as of yesterday. There is one security patch against kpdf (and the security patch mentioned in the build instructions is against 3.4.3 so is not applicable.)
I had a very noticeable issue with Kicker crash on logout against 3.5.0 that many people reported. This has been fixed in 3.5.1.
There is no change to the build instructions other than updating the version number and acquiring the security patch. It was problem free.

Before starting this KDE implementation, please update to
HAL-0.5.5.1 D-Bus-0.61
These versions will be going in for the GNOME update and KDE should be tested against these versions.

Some combination of Glib 2.10.1, Qt 3.3.6, KDE 3.5.2 has caused some of the audio apps like kscd, noatun, juk, artsbuilder to crash on startup with a Memory Error - GSlice. That is all I know at this point. GSlice is a new thing in Glib. Hopefully you will be able to avoid getting the book into a non-working version combination.

The note about GSlice is a duplicate of http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/03/msg00941.html
As mentioned there, there's a workaround that is run the "buggy-application" as follows: $ G_SLICE=always-malloc buggy-application

See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?users=stratus@debian.org;tag=gslice for a list of known gslice-related bugs

Some GNOME components require the development series of the Poppler library (0.5.x). During the testing of KDE-3.5.2, please check out if KDEGraphics will build with this version of Poppler. The configure script simply looks to ensure it is >= 3.5.x, so it won't fail during configure, but could fail during compilation, or using PDF graphics.

I have poppler 0.5.1 and kdegraphics 3.5.2. No trouble. kpdf works well.
(Originally had major issues with kpdf in 3.5.0 where font lookup often resulted in "text not displayed at all", which is why I tried the development 0.5.1, which didn't help. This was solved in 3.5.1 by a change to kpdf)
3.5.1 appears to fix the issues with the KDE menu and the user's environment/config files.
