Description ¶
The LFS book has a list of all upstream websites (in the first chapters). So it is easy to browse upstream sites to learn more (about grep, bzip2...)
It seems to me that BLFS has no such links, but just usefull download links. Example : http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/xsoft/dillo.html has a deep link to /download/dillo-0.8.5.tar.bz2 (related to the usefull MD5) but no link to dillo.org/index.html I think it would be nice if the introduction (Dillo is...) pointed to the upstream website homepage. The reader could better discover the package (CSS and SSL support...) and just learn more about FOSS.
I'm sorry if my report is a duplicate of another that I haven't found. Your books rocks. Thanks.
By the time a user gets to BLFS, they should be able to find the home page for projects for themselves. This would be a massive change that would touch every package for very little benefit.
Thanks for the idea though. It's not totally unreasonable, but its just more trouble than its worth.
