Description ¶
There is a major release of cups-filters and a new upstream location. The cups-filters code has been split across three tarballs.
This release changes the printing architecture from one that makes all printers look like PostScript printers to one that makes all printers look like IPP Everywhere printers.

I draw your attention to the INSTALL file in cups-filters where it discusses the need to have Ghostscript. You will also probably find that an installation that lacks the new /usr/lib/cups/filter/universal filter will not successfully print anything.
I am able to help with questions if need be, as I have it running.

cups-browsed has been separated too. I guess it needs to be included into the book, since it is said to be necessary for some network printers to work.

Yeah it's needed for Brother and Samsung printers, at least the ones here :)

Testing ok. But limited set-up: only one printer on the local network...
From the INSTALL file cited in the description:
I think if ghostscript is built after cups, it'll get the needed drivers (devices in ghostscript parlance).
