I would be very carefull committing this to the point that everything that links to it should be tested. I updated Guile a few months ago and just this week found out I had to downgrade. We will probably release in a month or so, to me not enough time to test such a major package that has such system-wide implications.
What does it gain for us, other than possible problems?

According to the developer, it's a bugfix only release and is suitable for production use:

What it gains is that it fixes bugs, including one we have that requires a patch. But I'll hold off if it seems too risky.

Oh no, Dan, if it is bugfixes, drive on, dude.
I did not research, so if you've installed it, things are working and the maintainer says it is bugfixes, please disregard my earlier comments. The month (or more) from now until release should be plenty of time for you (and others) to test for a bugfix release only.
I've built this. The db-4.4 patch is no longer needed. Just need to get the stats together to commit.
