dhcpcd-10.0.5 does not work well when using the -b (exec in background) switch. There is a patch at

​https://github.com/NetworkConfiguration/dhcpcd/commit/21d020b00e60e71b1300d89815f914145d7372f6

which should fix that issue.

Wait a few days if there is a new release, if not, prepare a patch on 10.0.5 for the book.

Another option would be to use the privsep mode only - but that is a limitation of the package functionality.
