Description ¶
When I wrote the KDE details in Items which can override Fontconfig I wrote the same filename twice:
"KDE Plasma: The settings can be adjusted in System Settings under Appearance -> Fonts. This will create or modify ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf although ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf, if installed, can override that."
Ovviously, a file does not override itself. Looking at my notes and at Arch I think I had intended to mention /etc/fonts/fonts.conf as the system-wide override: That would have been a very bad idea! The correct file would be /etc/fonts/local.conf.
However, experimenting with falkon on qt5 and on qt6 I have been unable to override its choices. Current KDE docs only talk about using the applications to change things, no mention of where the underlying preferences are stored.
So, it appears that the only reliable way to specify fonts in KDE applications is to change the preferences for each application.
I'll pick this up in a little while and then do an erratum.
