Description ¶
new version, stated as of March, 31st
this case looks like xterm-213, I don't know if I could personally take the risk, but would be more than willing to test it if this provides to be helpful for the book development
anyway, isn't this new version of MesaLib to bring the GL_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension? I mean... this could be of help to the GNOME 2.14 installation as the new metacity composite manages makes use of that extensions to provide some shadow effects, among others (if I remember correctly)
but this package is important to the X server, so... in regards of the comments over xterm, I don't know if it's worth the risk changing some of the dependencies of the core components...

Unfortunately, Mesa is very different from Xorg. Major parts of xorg-server depend on Mesa, so it's not a good idea to upgrade without testing.
This is all moot, though, since this release of Mesa is intended for Xorg-7.1, which is just around the corner. (The intended release date was today 2006-05-19)
