Description ¶
New release candidate.
We generally don't take release candidates but in this case it should be more stable than our custom snapshot.

Finally, I'll try it and report back. I'll take it if I can build successfully

I'll do it myself. I just encountered a reproducible crash in the color selector with the book version, and it seems fixed with rc1.
Also I had to remove some directory and files from the current installation to successfully build rc1:
sudo mv /usr/share/gimp{,.bak} -v sudo mv /usr/share/gir-1.0/Gimp-3.0.gir{,.bak} -v sudo mv /usr/lib/girepository-1.0/Gimp-3.0.typelib{,.bak} -v
or the rc1 build would attempt to use these files (instead of the just built ones) nearing the end of the build, causing a build failure.

Fixed r12.2-869-ga8f76ff990.
I didn't update the gimp-help tarball though.
"We are not giving out a date estimate for the actual 3.0.0 release, firstly because we can’t know for sure, secondly because each time we do, news outlets seem to just skim every warning out of our text and transform our words into unbreakable promises. Just know that we also want it to happen as soon as possible, i.e. when we can consider our software to feel stable enough."
If someone want to do this, then go ahead. My feeling is that what we have is 'good enough' (TM) for now. If the stable release is not made for the next BLFS, then we will definitely update then, but I don't see much advantage of updating now and then in a month (or six months).
