Description
The default path for pkg-config is actualy /usr/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/share/pkgconfig not just /usr/lib/pkgconfig.

grep pc_path config.log
pc_path='${exec_prefix}/lib/pkgconfig:${prefix}/share/pkgconfig'
