gexiv2 is now at 0.16.0 and considered stable.
The changes made will probably break all packages that use it. The main changes being that the pkgconfig file is versioned, so instead of having a gexiv2.pc file, it's now gexiv2-0.16.0.pc (in this case) so anything that looks for gexiv2 won't find it. The same thing was done for its include files.

From the initial research that I've done, the only package that can currently use this is localsearch. Localsearch still supports the older version though, and the older version is now an LTS release as well. Let's hold off on this until GIMP, nautilus, and gegl can use it. When I looked earlier there hadn't been progress on support gexiv2-0.16 for about five months.

Change summary so it does not mask currency for other packages.

nautilus-50 can use 0.16.0 and cannot use 0.14.0.

From what I can tell 0.16.0 and 0.14.6 are almost coexistable. The only conflict I've found is the Python module. Maybe it's enough to simply disable the Python binding for one version.

In gegl gexiv2 is only used for a test and an example, so it's OK to simply drop the dependency.

For gimp:
patch -p1 < build/macos/patches/0001-build-macos-Do-not-require-gexiv2-0.14-on-homebrew.patch
(Yes they ship a patch for porting to gexiv2-0.16 but apparently they think it was only useful for Mac OS...)

I am at GIMP in a full build of BLFS (with GNOME 50).

I'm grabbing these now, but it will probably be a couple days before I can get to them.
