Changes

  • amdgpu: Read model name from /proc/cpuinfo for APUs
  • amdgpu: Add parameter validation to amdgpu_bo functions to fix SIGSEGV
  • amdgpu: Slice and dice the string for APUs
  • amdgpu: Only read /proc/cpuinfo as a fallback
  • test/amdgpu: remove amdgpu unit tests (use https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/igt-gpu-tools for AMDGPU unit tests instead)
  • Revert ABI breakage "drm/amdgpu: Add user queue HQD count to hw_ip info"
  • Bump version to 2.4.128

The ABI breakage was introduced in libdrm-2.4.126 via https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/libdrm/-/commit/e4bd1ba753641672fe4f108142b94fa2a1a7220c. This change also affects Mesa and should be fixed in mesa-25.3.0 and mesa-25.2.7. The ABI breakage causes stack smashes with AMDGPU specifically.

This should be a simple update as always, just that an ABI breakage was introduced a couple point releases before this one and this one fixes such ABI breakage.

As for Mesa, I told renodr this earlier, but for Mesa since it also had a bad commit pushed to it, is affected on its own from this. However, that commit was pushed after the current version in the book, and will be fixed in Mesa-25.3. So we are save, just that we need to do this update to fix the breakage, then we will be in the clear.
