I think maybe we can drop Python 3 from BLFS now?

The only real reason to rebuild Python 3 in BLFS was for the sqlite module, but now it's built in LFS.

We still have several optional dependencies, but there are plenty of similar cases in LFS - for example groff optionally depends on libpaper, gettext optionally depends on libxml2 and libunistring - and we don't repeat them just for optional dependencies in BLFS at all.

I absolutely see where you're coming from, but the other major reason for building Python in BLFS now is for the Tkinter module. This is used by idle3, which is provided with Python and (at least when I was taking intro to CS) was used during our classes. You have to install Tk before Python for that script to work...

The other aspect that I would like to bring up is that we would need to bring over several links to LFS for the note regarding upgrading Python between minor versions. I'd also need to adjust security advisories for this as well, but can do that if we decide to go this route!

We say: "Python 3 was installed in LFS. The only reason to rebuild it here is if optional modules are needed, or to upgrade this package."

I think the effort to make the needed changes in both LFS and BLFS is greater than just updating the package in BLFS. Let's leave it in BLFS for now.
