7zip bumps into what appears to be a GCC bug: ​https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/bugs/2604/

There is a patch from Debian which basically uses a pragma to disable -Warray-bounds in CPP/Common/MyCom.h. The error in question is:

mdadm needs to be updated to 4.6 to fix building with GCC 16 (#23270)

BTW if compiling webkitgtk with -mavx, GCC 16.1 will exploit a bug in webkitgtk itself: ​https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314529. (Just FTR, we don't really try hard to support custom CXXFLAGS so nothing needed for the book.)
