Description
Sun fulfilled the promise to release Java source code under the GPL. Maybe use IcedTea?

Only partially at this point. This is a bit premature as JDK-7 is quite a ways off and the OpenJDK binary plugs are still 75MB in size (IOW, quite a bit is still missing from the GPL'd code), hence why you mentioned IcedTea. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.openjdk.distro-packaging.devel/5 spells it out pretty well. This is pretty much on hold until we have a stable JDK-7 so I'm closing as invalid, but thank you very much for the heads up about IcedTea. I'll be digging into it very soon now.
