Release notes
libinput 1.32.0 is now available.
Only a single documentation change since the rc, so let's copy/paste the previous announcement here since I have nothing else to add:
The biggest new feature is circular scrolling on circular touchpads. These touchpads are usually quite small and edge or 2-finger scrolling doesn't work well. Circular scrolling enables the user to move the finger in a circular motion to vertically scroll. This feature is currenly only available on the Panasonic CF-SV1 but we expect other circular touchpads to be added over time.
For touchpad, we also have a few new convenience features. Dragging on a touchpad automatically enables a drag lock if the finger near the edge. This allows users to quickly reset the finger and continuing the drag - useful for drags that cover larger distances.
Also on touchpads, disable-while-typing no longer cancels ongoing interactions. Previously typing while moving/dragging/scrolling/gesturing would interrupt that activity and pause the touchpad interaction. We now have heuristics in place to detect intentional gestures (e.g. dragging or an extended pointer motion), pressing a key even with dwt enabled does not pause the touchpad.
On the tablet side, we now allow the physical eraser button to be mapped to any button (this was backported to 1.31.3 too). The touch arbitration rectangle now covers a larger area which should make accidental touches less problematic.
On the tools side we also had a few convenience features, libinput record now allows a --no-events flag to get just the device description. And the --autorestart feature no longer requires a log file name, it'll just make one up.
As an internal feature, we use the new udev's ID_INTEGRATION (systemd v260) to tell us whether a device is internal or external. This means fewer quirks are required in libinput as we now get this information from the system.
Finally, the usual assortment of device-specific quirks.
