There is an issue that this package may need libgcrypt. Need to evaluate this. It may be a required dependency or an optional dependency.

Is there a reason to change the download URL? The tarball on tuxera extracts to a directory different from the name. For changes the NEWS file also points to the github repo.

It does look like libgcrypt is required, but I'll confirm.

Using the tuxera does not require autogen.sh and is the recommended download location. See https://github.com/tuxera/ntfs-3g/releases/tag/2026.9.28

It doesn't say it's recommended location but no problem.

libgcrypt is only needed if --enable-crypto is passed to configure. It's easiest, and probably better, to make that the default so I'll add it to configure and add libgcrypt as required.

OK. Most users probably already have libgcrypt by the time they build ntfs anyway. But perhaps recommended because it is not, strictly speaking, 'required'.

NTFS-3G 2026.9.28

Changes:

  • Fix regression caused by overly strict return value check after MST fixups which was introduced in a security hardening commit (issues #217 and #218).
  • Fix option parsing issues in ntfslabel preventing setting labels beginning with '-' (issue #177).
  • Fix various low-impact instances of use-after-free and improper realloc usage (issue #153).

Fixed at a0cb18c175.

Updated at 4ca2911364 for the above changes.
